PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H16N2O8 and is a white powder at room temperature and pressure. It is a chelating agent that can bind with divalent metal ions such as Mg2+, Ca2+, Mn2+ and Fe2+. Since most nucleic acid enzymes and some proteases need Mg2+ for their action, it is often used as inhibitor of nucleic acid enzymes and proteases; it can also be used to remove the inhibition of heavy metal ions on enzymes.
White odorless, tasteless, colorless crystalline powder, melting point 250 ℃ (decomposition). Insoluble in ethanol and general organic solvents, slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia. It can dissolve in more than 5% of inorganic acids, also in ammonia and 160 parts of boiling water. Its alkali metal salts are soluble in water.
EDTA is an important complexing agent.EDTA has a wide range of uses, it can be used as bleaching and fixing solution for color photographic material processing, dyeing auxiliaries, fiber treatment auxiliaries, cosmetic additives, blood anticoagulants, detergents, stabilizers, initiators of synthetic rubber polymerization, and EDTA is a representative substance of chelating agent. It can form stable water-soluble complexes with alkaline earth metals, rare earth elements and transition metals. In addition to sodium salt, there are ammonium salt and iron, magnesium, calcium, copper, manganese, zinc, cobalt, aluminum and other salts, these salts have different uses. In addition, EDTA can also be used to make harmful radioactive metals from the human body to play a detoxification role in rapid excretion. EDTA is also an important indicator, can be used to titrate metal nickel, copper, etc., when used with ammonia to play the role of indicator.
